Karl Jacob, Director of Music Ministries, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Knoxville, Tennessee, is a native of Hawkins County, Tennessee. He completed his undergraduate degree in Music at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, studying organ with John Brock.
At an early age, Karl began piano studies and commenced organ studies while attending Walters State Community College in the mid-1980’s, studying with Thomas Stapleton. In 1987, after moving to Knoxville, Karl studied organ with John Brock while getting his cosmetology license. By 1990, Karl had settled in Norwalk, Connecticut working as a hair-stylist and part-time church musician. He worked for churches in Scarsdale and West Harrison, New York and Saint Mary Catholic Church in Norwalk. While at Saint Mary, he oversaw the installation of the 24 rank Austin Organ in 1994. During his years in the northeast, Karl also studied organ with Dr. Stephen Hamilton, Minister of Music at Holy Trinity Episcopal church in New York City.
Karl is Dean of the Knoxville Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, a member of the National Pastoral of Musicians and is a licensed massage therapist.
